Andreas Chrysostomou is a seasoned professional and influential figure in the global shipping industry, bringing a wealth of technical and administrative expertise to his roles.
Educational Background
Mr. Chrysostomou’s academic foundation is robust, holding an MBA (Master’s in Business Administration). He also graduated from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, with a Bachelor of Engineering in Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding, giving him a deep understanding of the industry’s technical complexities.
Current Leadership
Currently, Mr. Chrysostomou applies his long-standing career experience as the CEO of Pivotal Step Ltd. Furthermore, he is a dedicated advocate for environmental sustainability, serving as the Executive Director of the Clean Shipping Alliance (CSA).
Distinguished Career Progression
Throughout his career, Mr. Chrysostomou has held senior management roles across a wide spectrum of the maritime sector. His previous positions include, Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) of Tototheo Global, CEO of Marine-Fields Holding Ltd, Director of the Department of Merchant Shipping (the Maritime Authority of Cyprus), Secretary-General of CLIA Europe
His core expertise lies in high-level administration, with a focus on implementing policy in the critical areas of safety and security and the protection of the marine environment.
International Governance and Influence
Mr. Chrysostomou’s influence extends to the highest levels of international maritime governance. He was the elected Chairman of the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) for an impressive 11 years, and also served as the elected Chairman of the IMO’s Design and Equipment Subcommittee.
His commitment to international cooperation is further evidenced by his tenure as the twice-elected Chairman of the Assembly of the International Mobile Satellite Organization. Additionally, he served as a member of the Board of Governors of the World Maritime University (WMU) and as President of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMAREST).
