Since March 2001, Athens International Airport (AIA) consistently offers high-level services, earning the trust of airlines, passengers, and stakeholders. With more than 430 million passengers and over 4 million flights, AIA continues to create significant value for the national and local economy, while enhancing Athens’s connectivity as a sustainable year-round destination.
In 2025, AIA’s network offered connections to 166 destinations with more than 70 airlines. In addition, traffic reached 34 million passengers (+6.7%), marking a historic best for the Athens aviation market. Overall, since the beginning of 2026, the airport’s passenger traffic reached 23.71 million, exceeding 2025 levels by 4.4%.
At AIA, improving the passenger experience remains a constant pursuit, in areas ranging from the high quality of services, to the upgrade of infrastructure. Moreover, the Airport Expansion Plan is being implemented, aiming to increase capacity in view of future traffic growth.
A recognized leader in environmental protection, AIA, through its pioneering ‘ROUTE 2025’ programme, completed within the year 2025 the Roadmap to meeting the requirements for achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions within its direct control
AIA is the winner of the ACI EUROPE Best Airport Award 2025 in the highly competitive 25–40 million passenger category, and the Overall Winner at the ROUTES WORLD 2025 Awards.
