Dr. Nikolaos Angelopoulos

Dr. Nikolaos Angelopoulos is a highly respected figure in the business and tourism sectors, widely regarded as a pioneer of tourism development in Greece. He has played a formative role in shaping the industry through timely and strategic interventions whenever circumstances required, serving over the years as an advisor, mentor, and member of the founding team of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE), where he served as President from 2008 to 2011.

He was the first to highlight tourism’s strong multiplier effects on the national economy, and during his presidency it marked the first time that the Prime Minister of Greece attended SETE’s General Assembly. Throughout and until the end of his term, he contributed decisively to the consolidation of SETE as the sole representative body of all tourism-related associations in Greece and to its formal recognition as a Social Partner of the State through legislation.

Since 1989, Dr. Angelopoulos has been actively involved in the development of luxury hotel resorts, while the Aldemar Resorts Group has earned international distinction for pioneering and award-winning thalassotherapy centres in Greece.

In 2024, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the Department of Tourism Studies of the School of Economics, Business and International Studies at the University of Piraeus, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Greek tourism.
