Dimitris Papastergiou

Minister of Digital Governance of the Hellenic Republic

Dimitris Papastergiou was born in 1973 in Trikala. He graduated from the Polykladiko High School of Trikala and the School of Electrical and Computer Engineers at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). Concurrently, he attended journalism courses, maintaining strong ties with technology and the internet, a relationship that was reinforced in the Multimedia Laboratory of NTUA.

In 2001, he constructed and presented, along with a team of collaborators, the first integrated webpage for the Trikala Prefecture, 3kala.gr. Since 2002, he has practiced as a Computer Engineer in the city of Trikala. He has been involved in studies and constructions of private electromechanical projects and the development of hardware/software programs. In 2007, he entered the field of renewable energy sources and has constructed more than 300 private RES projects.

His involvement in public affairs began in 2002 with his election to the Municipal Council. He was re-elected in 2006, and in 2014, he was elected Mayor of Trikala and a member of the Board of Directors of the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece (KEDKE). He was re-elected as Mayor in 2019 and, in the same year, was elected President of KEDKE.

He is married to engineer Soula Braki and proudly declares himself the father of Fai, Kostas, and Nikos. Since June 2023, he has served as the Minister of Digital Governance in the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
